If you are a cat owner, there is little doubt that you have found cat hair in the most unlikely of places. After living with a cat or two in the house for a while, you begin to get used to seeing it show up in food, on your clothing and under the furniture. Many cat owners turn a blind eye to the shedding hair in their homes, but if you are the least bit concerned with hygiene and how you are viewed by others, there is little doubt that you want to minimize the amount of cat hair in your home. It is very possible to accomplish this by taking a few simple steps.

The most important thing you can do is to use a cat hair brush on your cat daily or at least every few days. You should get several good cat hair brush fulls with every session and the hair that collects in the cat hair brush is hair that will not be all over your house. This alone should be incentive enough to keep a regular brushing schedule. Cats actually enjoy being brushed by a cat hair brush as long as you are gentle when doing so.

It is a good idea to be sure that you are feeding your cat a healthy diet as this can decrease the amount that he sheds. The cat’s skin will be healthier with a high quality diet and you will definitely see less hair laying around.

Be sure to vacuum your floors at least twice a week and dust furniture on a regular basis when you have a cat living indoors. A cat can shed a considerable amount of hair in just one week, so if you vacuum and dust at least weekly, you should keep ahead of the shedding. Another great tip is when doing laundry be sure to tumble dry your clothing as the warm and dry air will break the static cling that makes cat hair stick to clothing.
