Dogs need to be groomed regularly and trimming a dog’s hair is one of the most basic aspects of grooming. If you would like cutting dog hair to maybe save a bit of money on a dog groomer, there are a few things you should know.

Learning cutting dog hair can seem difficult to learn. Not every dog breed requires clipping but if your dog has thick or long hair, chances are it should be trimmed on occasion. You could make a visit to your local groomer for some tips if you are not comfortable cutting dog hair without some advice before getting started.

It is highly recommended that you begin cutting dog hair when he is quite young. This will get him accustomed to the brush, comb, scissors and trimmer. Remain calm and talk to the animal as you are brushing his hair and be sure that he is in a secure place so that he cannot run away from you and possibly injure himself during the grooming session.

You should do a bit of research on the breed of your dog to see what types of haircuts the breed should get. Look at other dogs in your area that are the same breed and see how they have been groomed.

Keep in mind that there are different types of clipper blades that are designed for specific breeds, so be sure you are using the correct blade for your dog. It is important that the blades are kept sharp and that you use clipper coolant to keep the blades from getting too warm when trimming your pet. You certainly do not want to burn your dog’s skin while cutting dog hair!

Be sure to brush out any mats before cutting dog hair and then begin clipping the uneven hair on your dog first. Remain calm as you work and before long and with a bit of practice you will soon be cutting dog hair’s hair on a regular basis!

Different dog breeds have different types of hair or fur. The hair on dog or fur is called the ‘coat’ and just as people have different types of hair, so do dogs. Different types of hair on dogs or dog coats require different types of care and it is important to attend to your dog’s coat on a regular basis.

No matter what season, it is important to brush or comb your dog’s coat on a regular basis. If you start brushing your hair on dog when he is a puppy, he will be very used to it and actually enjoy being brushed.

Long haired dogs can easily become matted and mats are very hard to deal with and are very uncomfortable for the hair on dog. If you regularly brush your dog and pay special attention to the belly area, under the legs and behind the ears, you should be able to prevent matting. If you must remove a mat, be very careful and first try to untangle the mat with your fingers. There are special de-matting grooming tools sold at pet stores that make it relatively simple to remove mats.

When bathing your dog, be sure you have the supplies ready by the tub so that your dog will not jump out of the tub when you turn your back. Wet the dog well, apply shampoo and work it in thoroughly and finally rinse the dog several times before towel drying the hair on dog.

Fleas and ticks can be problematic in the summer months. There are treatments you can purchase that repel these pests including collars, sprays and shampoos. Be sure to inspect your dog’s coat upon returning from outdoors.

You can always hire a professional dog groomer to work your hair on dog. This is entirely up to you but groomers cost money so if you learn to do the grooming yourself you can save a good amount of money per year. Professional dog groomers are specially trained and know every aspect of proper grooming techniques.

Dog Hair Grooming – A Puppy Cut Is A Great Idea

If you are the owner of a dog, either purebred or a mixed breed, and your dog has a long coat, you might want to consider a puppy cut. A puppy cut consists of cutting the hair relatively short, at about the same length of coat that your dog had when he was around three months old. There are many benefits of giving your dog a puppy cut.

Long haired dogs require almost constant attention to dog hair grooming. You must brush and/or comb your dog several times a week in order to keep the hair from becoming tangled or matted. The shorter hair also allows the dog’s skin to ‘breathe’ and it makes it much easier for you to check your dog for fleas and ticks. Dogs feel better when their hair is cut short and they can keep their coat cleaner when it is short. Keeping your dog in a puppy cut saves you a considerable amount of time bathing and brushing also. Dog hair grooming is a great way to maintain a close bond with your pet, but spending too much time grooming is tiring for both you and your dog.

During the summer months your dog will love having shorter fur. He will be cooler and there is a far lesser chance that he falls victim to a heat stroke. We have all seen long haired dogs whose owners have obviously neglected taking care of dog hair grooming, sweltering in the hot summer sun. The dogs are miserable and quite possibly invested with fleas. Your dog will be grateful with shorter hair in the winter as well. A long haired dog can quickly gather large clumps of snow and ice on their long fur that causes them much discomfort when out on a snowy day.

If you do not know what a puppy cut would look like on your particular breed, you can research the breed on the internet and take a look at how the breed looked as a puppy. A professional at dog hair grooming is more than happy to give a dog a puppy cut and has the necessary skills to get the job done well. It is recommended that once you get your dog’s hair cut in this style that you visit the professional at dog hair grooming every other month or so to maintain your dog’s short hair.

You can also find instructional videos online that show you exactly how to do a proper dog hair grooming puppy cut yourself at home.

If you own a dog or a cat or both, you know how difficult it is to rid your home of pet hair. Pet hair contains oils that enable the individual strands of hair to cling to carpeting. Using a conventional vacuum cleaner is not very effective as the pet hair quickly becomes entangled in the brushes and beater bars of the vacuum.

Today you can purchase special pet hair vacuum cleaners that are specially designed to tackle the chore of picking up pet hair. The pet hair vacuum cleaners come as either upright models, portable, hand held, bag less and even in robotic models.

A good pet hair vacuum must have a lot of power and suction. With a conventional vacuum cleaner the suction tube is on one side of the vacuum head. When the pet hair enters the vacuum the hair wraps around the brush roll. You end up having to take scissors and try to cut the tangled hair off of the brush roll and this is often nearly impossible to do. A good pet hair vacuum sucks the hair directly into the vacuum and then into the bag. The suction tube should be located in the center of the vacuum head and not to one side. This gives you suction power all across the head. A high quality pet hair vacuum also comes with a large vacuum tube so that the hair does not collect into the tube, instead it goes directly into the bag. The brush rolls should also be very stiff on a pet hair vacuum so that it combs the carpet well.

If you are in the market for a great pet hair vacuum, you should take a bit of time to see what animal owners have to say about these vacuums. By reading customer reviews online you will hear both the good and the bad points of different pet hair vacuums.

Pet hair ’sticks’ to carpeting and furniture so be sure that the vacuum you choose has a sufficient amount of amps. The higher the amps, the more suction power you will receive. It is also essential to select a pet hair vacuum that has a relatively short hose or no hose at all, such as the upright models. This will stop hair from clogging the hose and will save you a lot of time and frustration that you would otherwise spend cleaning the vacuum.

If you are a pet owner, chances are that you have considered purchasing a vacuums pet hair. An ordinary vacuum just doesn’t get the job done with regards to cat and dog hair. Some dog and cat breeds are heavy shedders and their hair seems to nearly embed itself into carpeting. A standard vacuum cleaner is not designed to pick up pet hair and serious damage can be done to these regular household vacuums. The hair can become entangled in the beater brushes and belts that can cause the vacuum to stop working all together. A good vacuums pet hair generally costs more than a regular vacuum, so is the price worth it?

Vacuums pet hair do work in picking up pet hair although there are some on the market that claim to be special pet hair vacuums but in reality they are merely standard vacuum cleaners that are re-named. If you want to find a high quality vacuums pet hair it is wise to compare the features to a standard household vacuum. Take a look at how the vacuums pet hair is constructed and make an assessment based on your observations.

Another sure-fire way to find a high quality pet hair vacuum is to read user reviews. There is no better way to discover the pros and cons of a product than by reading what real users have to say. There are consumer review websites on the internet that you can browse to see if this type of vacuum has been reviewed. Amazon.com is another website that includes user reviews in their product listings.

It is a good idea to consider what maintenance is required when selecting a vacuums pet hair. Does the manufacturer suggest that you should clean the beater brushes after every use or after say, three to five vacuumings.

Pet hair can really be a problem in the home. Pets are constantly shedding and pet owners are constantly vacuuming. If this sounds like your situation then perhaps it is wise to look into purchasing a good, high quality pet vacuum.

If you are a cat owner, there is little doubt that you have found cat hair in the most unlikely of places. After living with a cat or two in the house for a while, you begin to get used to seeing it show up in food, on your clothing and under the furniture. Many cat owners turn a blind eye to the shedding hair in their homes, but if you are the least bit concerned with hygiene and how you are viewed by others, there is little doubt that you want to minimize the amount of cat hair in your home. It is very possible to accomplish this by taking a few simple steps.

The most important thing you can do is to use a cat hair brush on your cat daily or at least every few days. You should get several good cat hair brush fulls with every session and the hair that collects in the cat hair brush is hair that will not be all over your house. This alone should be incentive enough to keep a regular brushing schedule. Cats actually enjoy being brushed by a cat hair brush as long as you are gentle when doing so.

It is a good idea to be sure that you are feeding your cat a healthy diet as this can decrease the amount that he sheds. The cat’s skin will be healthier with a high quality diet and you will definitely see less hair laying around.

Be sure to vacuum your floors at least twice a week and dust furniture on a regular basis when you have a cat living indoors. A cat can shed a considerable amount of hair in just one week, so if you vacuum and dust at least weekly, you should keep ahead of the shedding. Another great tip is when doing laundry be sure to tumble dry your clothing as the warm and dry air will break the static cling that makes cat hair stick to clothing.

If you are a cat owner the chances are very good that you have a lot of cat hair in your home-on the furniture, in carpeting and even on your clothing. The very best way to reduce the amount of cat hair in your home is to brush your cat every single day. Your cat will love it and you will see a noticeable improvement in the amount of cat hair in the house. It is important when brushing your cat to concentrate on the tail and the rear end of the cat. These areas shed heavily so take your time and brush the cat for at least fifteen minutes. You should be able to get two to three brush fulls of hair with each brushing session. Most cats enjoy being brushed but some cats detest it. Cats are strange creatures in that way and you will not know until you try to brush you cat, which type he is. Take your time and talk calmly to the cat and be sure to brush gently. A cat’s skin is very sensitive and he may strike out at you if you brush too hard.

As for removing cat hair from carpeting, you should use a very high powered vacuum cleaner. You will need to thoroughly vacuum your home at least twice a week and be sure to concentrate under the furniture and in the corners of rooms. To remove cat hair from furniture a good method is to spray your couch and other chairs with a fabric softener. After spraying them with fabric softener you will see that the cat hair is very easy to wipe off the furniture with the palm of your hand. You can also use garment rollers, masking tape or a clothes brush on furniture to effectively remove cat hair from furniture.

If you have hardwood floors instead of carpeting you can quite easily remove cat hair by using a dust mop on the floors as well as vacuuming the hard surfaced floors.

If you feed your cat a high quality cat food, he will be receiving the proper nutrients to ensure healthy skin and fur and he will shed less as a result of being fed well.

Cats are very popular house pets but unfortunately cats shed. With a little determination and hard work however, you can keep your home relatively free of excessive cat hair.

It is a well known fact that cats shed a lot of hair and it is challenging to keep your home free of excessive amounts of cat hair. Shedding cat hair can be a nuisance when it is all over the carpeting, on the furniture and on your clothing.

It is essential to keep your cat well groomed as regular bathing, brushing and combing will remove the shedding cat hair, dander and the matted hair. Short haired cats shed just as much as long haired cats and need regular grooming. If you spend just a few minutes every day brushing your cat you will have much less hair throughout your home.

A corner comb that attaches to a corner of a wall is a great way to allow your cat to groom himself. He simply rubs up against it and the soft tipped ends remove the loose hair. Pet supply stores also sell special shampoos and brushes designed to minimize cat shedding, so by all means make a trip to the pet shop near you to ask about the products that they carry to help control shedding cat hair.

It is very annoying to have your furniture covered with shedding cat hair. The best way to avoid this is not to allow your cat on the furniture. Have a special place set aside for your cat to sleep in. If your cat insists on sleeping on the furniture you can purchase fabric protector that makes it easier to vacuum the shedding cat hair off of the furniture.

For shedding cat hair that is on your clothing you can use a pet hair roller to remove it quite easily. The sticky surfaces easily picks up the hair. A lint brush is also very effective in this manner. If you feel you are losing the battle of removing cat hair from your clothes then perhaps you should keep your clothes in plastic dry cleaner bags.

Cats make wonderful pets, but unfortunately they shed. It is an on-going process to try to keep shedding cat hair at bay, but with a bit of know-how and diligence, it can easily be done.
